What's With The Shoes?

One step.

One moment.

One heartbeat at a time.

Medicine Man

Deep heavy bass line.
Heartbeats.
Glass jar echoes between the ears.
Bells.
Pressure.
Pressure.
Twisted tight.
Locked down.
Pressure down.
Pressure.
Medicine man.
Medicine bottle.
Medicine cap.
Prescription inside.
Pressure down.
Locked down.
Medicine man.
Hold steady.
Don't twist.
Don't turn.
Don't spill.
Prescription.

If they press down.
If they pressure.
If they push.
Palms down on you.
Pressure.
Pressure down.
If they press.
If they push.

Don't twist away.
Don't turn.
Stand.
Stand strong.
Hold fast.
Don't turn.
Pressure.
Don't turn from it.
Steady.
Medicine man.
Steady.
Steady.
Don't turn.
Don't lose your head.
They press.
Don't turn.

Keep your lid.
Keep your self.
Keep your head.
Keep your cool.
Pressure.

Keep steady.
You won't lose yourself if you don't turn your head.
Face it.
Head on.
Strong.
Steady.
Steady.

Palms up when they're palms down.
Pressure.
Hold it.
Face forward.

Hard Running

Aka: sprints.

A week ago, in the middle of a cool down rolling out session I overheard a conversation bubbling about not loving to run, how different a 200m feels from the 400, and whatever else along that typical complain-train failway-railway.
Most interesting one was that "at least we don't do hard running".

Good morning, Thursday.
What's on the menu?
"Hard running".
Sprints.

Funny how the "we don'ts" often come back to the "we just did" on any given day.

Mindset. Mechanics.
Can't improve one without the other.

I used to hate to run.
I used to feel like a school bus hit me from the pain in my legs, IT band, and more.
I used to dread the mornings where a longer run was posted.
I hated the mechanics of it, and the mechanics of me doing it.

Mindset. Mechanics.
Can't improve one (mechanics) without the other (mindset).

I now look forward to running.
I am now the school bus hitting the fear head on.
My legs feel fine.
I learned to embrace the mornings where that 3 letter word showed up:
"Run".

I love the mechanics of it. I love the mechanics of me doing it.

I have only gotten better at it..
Internally.
Externally.

Keep going.

Life Is Too

Short.
Awesome.
Sweet.
Tough.
Incredible.
Unexpected.
Heartbreaking.
Inspiring.
Unexplainable.
Beautiful.

... for you not to

Do something awesome.
Make something, by hand.
Help one other person.
Smile.
Fight.
Try.
Love.
Squat heavier.
Laugh.
Cry.
Question.

So, cut the:

Nonsense.
What-if's.
Yeah-but's.
Politics.
Maybe's.
Multiple choice options.
"Bosses".
Conveyor belts.

Because life is too...
