Hard Running
Aka: sprints.
A week ago, in the middle of a cool down rolling out session I overheard a conversation bubbling about not loving to run, how different a 200m feels from the 400, and whatever else along that typical complain-train failway-railway.
Most interesting one was that "at least we don't do hard running".
Good morning, Thursday.
What's on the menu?
"Hard running".
Sprints.
Funny how the "we don'ts" often come back to the "we just did" on any given day.
Mindset. Mechanics.
Can't improve one without the other.
I used to hate to run.
I used to feel like a school bus hit me from the pain in my legs, IT band, and more.
I used to dread the mornings where a longer run was posted.
I hated the mechanics of it, and the mechanics of me doing it.
Mindset. Mechanics.
Can't improve one (mechanics) without the other (mindset).
I now look forward to running.
I am now the school bus hitting the fear head on.
My legs feel fine.
I learned to embrace the mornings where that 3 letter word showed up:
"Run".
I love the mechanics of it. I love the mechanics of me doing it.
I have only gotten better at it..
Internally.
Externally.
Keep going.
